Tancho koi are stunningly beautiful snowy white fish featuring a prominent Hi marking on their heads. The placement of this marking is crucial, as it should be well-proportioned and centered solely on the head. The circular Hi should ideally cover as much space as possible between the eye and nose, while ensuring it does not overlap with either the eye or the nose.
Ochibashigure (pronounced OOH-chee-BAH-shee-GORE-ay), commonly known as Ochiba (pronounced OOH-chee-BAH), is a koi fish characterized by its brown or grey body adorned with an orange pattern reminiscent of a Kohaku pattern. The name directly translates to 'leaves of Autumn in the water,' drawing parallels between the pattern's colors resembling the reds and oranges of autumn foliage and the brown base color representing the traditional Japanese mud pond habitat where koi carp are often found.
